Brooks Wackerman lahir 15 Februari 1977 di Amerika Serikat, saat ini ia adalah drummer untuk band Avenged Sevenfold dan Mass Mental, dia adalah adik dari John Wackerman dan Chad Wackerman (mantan anggota band Frank Zappa). Dia adalah putra dari Chuck Wackerman, seorang pendidik di Kabupaten Los Alamitos California Unified School. Brooks juga alumni Murray Spivack dan Chuck Flores. Setelah keluarnya Wackerman dari Bad Religion, pada 4 November 2015 Wackerman diumumkan akan menggantikan Arin Ilejay sebagai drummer baru Avenged Sevenfold.
Brooks Wackerman memulai karir musiknya saat remaja dengan kelompok band bernama Bad4Good pada tahun 1991. Di bawah bimbingan Steve Vai, band ini merilis satu album pada tahun 1992 disebut ‘Refugee’, diproduksi oleh Vai sendiri. Namun, band ini bubar tak lama setelahnya. Pada tahun 1993 hingga 2000, Wackerman menjadi anggota Infectious Grooves, bermain drum di album ‘Groove Family Cyco’ (1994) dan ‘Mas Borracho’ (2000) dan tur dengan band tersebut.
Brooks juga memainkan drum untuk album Vandal, ‘Look What I Almost Stepped In…’ (2000). Dia adalah pengganti drummer Vandal, Josh Freese.
Pada tahun 2001, ia menjadi drummer terbaru Bad Religion, menggantikan Bobby Schayer yang meninggalkan band karena cedera lengan. Brooks telah berkontribusi pada album The Process of Belief, The Empire Strikes First, New Maps of Hell, The Dissent of Man, True North dan Christmas Songs.
Bersama Terry Bozzio, ia memberikan kontribusi drum dan perkusi untuk album ‘untitled’ milik Korn. Dia juga adalah vokalis band Hot Potty. Wackerman juga menjadi drummer band trash metal, The Innocent, bersama bassist Ryan Sinn (mantan anggota Angels & Airwaves and The Distillers), vocalis Brandan Schieppati (Bleeding Through) dan gitaris Dave Nassie (No Use for a Name). Pada Maret 2008, Wackerman bergabung pad proyek solo milik gitaris Korn, James “Munky” Shaffer, experimental industrial rock band Fear and the Nervous System, bersama vocalist Steve Krolikowski ( Repeater), Billy Gould (Faith No More), Leopold Ross (Error), dan Zac Baird (Korn, Billy Goat).
Brooks juga menjadi drummer tour band Tenacious D 2006-2007 serta bekerja dengan Avril Lavigne.
Pada tahun 2013, Brooks menggantikan Travis Barker pada tur Blink-182 di festival Soundwave, Australia, serta pertunjukan-pertunjukan lain mereka.
Brooks dipekerjakan untuk mengisi drum di album debut solo mantan anggota Blink-182 Tom DeLonge “To The Stars”, muncul di lagu “New World.”
Pada 27 Oktober 2015, Brooks meninggalkan Bad Religion, danada 4 November 2015, Brooks resmi menjadi drummer baru Avenged Sevenfold.
